About this Role

The Grant Writer Volunteer is responsible for managing HERI Foundation’s grants-related activities that includes research and writing of grants application to a range of funders. The candidate should be well organized, focused and committed to producing high quality applications and reports to funders. Candidate should be a team player who will work with our team to identify, engage and support development of strong partnerships with funders and other stakeholders to help diversify the organization’s sources of funding.

This is a full-time position that requires 40 hours per week and is based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The position reports to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities

A: Grant Research

    1. Undertake extensive research to identify potential grants and other best-fit funding opportunities.
    2. Investigate the    potential    opportunities    and    strategically    prioritize applications
    3. Ensure all research is recorded and tracked in Google

B.  Grant Writing & Reporting

  1. Develop high-quality grant applications and letters of interest to help diversify funding sources.
  2. Produce high-quality, informative and timely
  3. Manage and oversee the successful completion of each step in the application and reporting process, obtaining needed signatures and approvals on time.

C.  Administration

  1. Ensure all grant deliverables, including applications and reports are recorded.
  2. Lead monthly grant calls to discuss calendar deliverables for current funders, as well as new and upcoming opportunities.
  3. Upload and maintain all grant applications and reports in the Grants folder in Google Drive.

  5. Organize Fundraising Events and other administrative support

  • Specific qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in development, project management, communications or a related area
  • Minimum    2-3   years’ experience      with    grant   writing,   reporting,   or communications in the not-for-profit setup
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Team player
